Final Thoughts and Conclusions

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER is the direct replacement for the RTX 2080. It brings more performance to the table thanks to having more cores and higher clock speeds and the Founders Edition model is $100 less. It’s hard to knock more performance for less money, so this conclusion is very straight forward. It would have been nice to see more of a performance increase between the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 SUPER, but that just wasn’t the case this time around. All those that bought NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti cards can breath a big sigh of relief as the 2080 Ti is still very much the flagship gaming card from GeForce for desktop PCs. We’ve seen online rumors of a possible RTX 2080 Ti SUPER model, but we haven’t heard anything from NVIDIA about that. AMD can’t come close to touching the RTX 2080 Ti right now, so there is no real rush from NVIDIA to launch something even faster.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

Overclocking the RTX 2080 SUPER showed that NVIDIA still left some overhead in the GPU for overclocking fun as we managed to overclock the CUDA cores +90 MHz with ease. This overclock garnered 3.5% more performance from the stock RTX 2080 SUPER Founders Edition card and was very easy to achieve.
If you are looking to spend $699 on a graphics card the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER has no real competition and is the card to get. The best ‘deal’ right now might actually be on the original GeForce RTX 2080 as you can pick one of those up new for $629.99 shipped on Amazon. With a little manual overclocking the GeForce RTX 2080 can come real close to a stock 2080 SUPER in terms of gaming performance and runs $70 less. The only kicker here is that the RTX 2080 is discontinued and once the channel supply has been bought up they will be gone. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FE price remains unchanged at $1199. Those with deep pockets will pay the extra $500 to step up to the RTX 2080 Ti FE, but those that actually look at their bank account balance from time to time might find the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER much more appealing.
For a limited time, qualifying purchases of a GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER-based graphics card or desktop PC will include copies of Control and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Both of these titles support real-time ray tracing and are valued at $90 according to NVIDIA. Not a bad value adder and it makes purchasing a $699 graphics card a little easier.
