The Z97X-UD3H-BK is packed in a Black box with silver lettering. This follows their “Black Edition” theme, keeping it simple and providing necessary information. The front of the box, tells us the model and that it is an Intel LGA 1150 motherboard. Also, in the top corner, it states the Ultra Durable Black Edition is put through a 168 hour Server level durability test.Gigabyte-Z97X-UD3H-BK-Packaging-Back

For those that need details on the motherboard, that is provided on the back of the box. Here we get a good overview of the motherboard, with key features being pointed out. The rear I/O plate is also pictured with every port being identified. Finally the motherboard specifications and feature logo’s are provided for quick review.

The front of the box flips open to reveal a bit more information on some of the feature groupings like Performance, Durable, Safe and Cooling. In addition, the box itself you can see the motherboard through a plastic window. This is commonly found in the top tier motherboards and provides a nice hand-on view of the motherboard.

Opening the box, the motherboard itself is packed in an anti-static bag; nothing unusual about that though, almost every motherboard comes packed this way.

Beneath the motherboard the accessories are separated in their own compartments. I was surprised at the layout of the accessories, this is exactly how I found them, nicely organized. In the top left compartment we have the rear I/O shield and a flexible SLI bridge. To the right we find two nicely braided black SATA cables, with a second pack of two braided SATA cables in the first compartment of the second row. The final compartment contains the installation manual, and two case badges.
