PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan PlayerUnknown Greene for other games using the film Battle Royale for inspiration, and expanded into a standalone game under Greenes creative direction. In the game, up to one hundred players parachute down and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. The game was released for Microsoft Windows via Steams early access beta program in March 2017, with a full release on December 20, 2017.

We benchmarked PUBG v5.3.4.7 on Erangel with the Medium overall quality setting with an unlimited in-game FPS limit.

Benchmark Results: The EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti averaged 157.6 FPS over our match at 1080P with the lowest frame rate recorded being 85 FPS. When we increased the display resolution to 2560 x 1440 the average frame rate was 105.3 FPS with the minimum being 64 FPS.

Overwatch

Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It was released in May 2016 and has over 25 million game copies activated, making it one of the biggest game titles around. Overwatch puts players into two teams of six, with each player selecting one of several pre-defined hero characters with unique movement, attributes, and skills; these heroes are divided into four classes: Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support. Players on a team work together to secure and defend control points on a map and/or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time.

Overwatch is using a proprietary game engine and we tested the game title with Ultra graphics quality settings. FRAPS was used to manually benchmark two matches on Hanamura. We disabled VSYNC.

Benchmark Results: The EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti averaged 122.4 FPS at 1080P with the lowest frame rate recorded being 95 FPS. When we increased the display resolution to 2560 x 1440 the average frame rate was 97.1 FPS with the minimum being 70 FPS.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 4, 2019, without any prior announcement or marketing and manged to get 50 million players in the first month of its release.

Overwatch is using a proprietary game engine and we tested the game title with Ultra graphics quality settings. FRAPS was used to manually benchmark two matches on Hanamura. We disabled VSYNC.

Benchmark Results: The EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti averaged 108.2 FPS at 1080P with the lowest frame rate recorded being 64 FPS. Those interested in 1440P gaming performance should be happy with the 78.7 FPS average, but we did dip down to 38 FPS in one of our intense battles.

Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is a first-person shooter video game developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver. It was released on February 15th, 2019 and is the third installment in the Metro video game series based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels. It follows the events of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light.

We used the games built-in benchmark to see how the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti XC Black does at 1920 x 1080 on this new game title on the high and normal presets.

Benchmark Results: Using the ‘high’ preset we found the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti averaged 57.55 FPS with a minimum (99th percentile) frame rate of just 31.08.

Benchmark Results: Lowering the preset down to normal (medium) we found the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti averaged 77.21 FPS at 1080P with a minimum frame rate of 37.98. We didn’t bother running Metro Exodus at 1440P as are lows were already in the 30’s on a 1080P display.
