Final Thoughts and Conclusions

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming

The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming is the first custom GeForce GTX 1070 that we’ve look at from one of NVIDIA’s board partners and it looks pretty good. It offers slightly better performance at a significantly lower price point than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition, so you have yourself a solid gaming card that will chew up 1080P and 1440P game titles. 4K gaming can be done on this card, but you’ll find yourself wanting more power in a wide variety of game titles at that resolution and we still recommend the GeForce GTX 1080 for serious 4K gamers. The GTX 1070 FE design is still interesting though as multi-GPU setups can benefit from the external exhaust design better than an open GPU cooler like the WindForce 3x model used on the GTX 1070 G1 Gaming.

When it comes to overclocking performance the GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming overclocked well. We got our test sample up to nearly 2.1GHz on the core clock when boosting and stayed above 2GHz once at operating temperature for long gaming durations. The Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming software utility was very nice to have and it was easy to overclock the card, adjust the fan profile to our liking and even adjust the RGB lighting profiles.

Pricing for the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming is $429.00 right now on Amazon, but NVIDIA has been having a tough time keeping up with demand on pretty much all of the new Pascal series cards. If you are looking for a good all around gaming card the GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming from Gigabyte is certainly a contender. The toughest part about buying a GeForce GTX 1070 is finding one available to purchase for a reasonable price as some retailers are inflating the price due to the supply and demand. We asked Gigabyte for their MSRP for the GeForce GTX 1070 lineup and was told it was this:

  • Gigabyte GTX 1070 Xtreme Gaming – $459
  • Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming – $429
  • Gigabyte GTX 1070 Windforce OC – $399

Hopefully that will help you know what a fair price is as right now some retailers are selling the G1 Gaming for $499 or higher as they are the only ones with it in-stock.
