Benchmarking The Thecus N0204

To start out testing we fired up the Linksys SD2008 10/100/1000Mbps version 3.0 Gigabit switch and benchmarked the performance of the RAID 0 array on the Thecus N0204 miniNAS

Thecus N5200 RAID 6 benchmarking with CrystalMark 2.1

  • Peak Write Performance : 18.48 MB/sec
  • Peak Read Performance : 33.55 MB/sec

The first test we ran on the Thecus N0204 was CrystalDiskMark, which showed fairly decent performance for a 2-bay NAS. The SSDs in RAID 0 are capable of more than 300MB/s sequential read, but in this setup we are limited by the processor and can get only 33.55MB/s read and 15.79 MB/s in the sequential read/write tests.

Thecus N0204 miniNAS Pocket RAID benchmarking with ATTO 2.34

ATTO has been around for some time, but it is still a very popular hard disk benchmarking tool that offers nice features to benchmark RAID setups. We ran the default ‘Overlapped I/O’ benchmark, which is where the benchmark writes files on the disk being tested and then reads them back.

  • Peak Write Performance : 16.2 MB/sec
  • Peak Read Performance : 32.0 MB/sec

Once again, we get roughly the same peak scores.
