Looking around the Heroes of the Storm Mouse

When you open the box, the Heroes of the Storm Mouse comes with a quick start guide and some SteelSeries stickers.SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse

Like the Sensei RAW mouse from which the SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse is based on, this symmetrical mouse has measurements of 4.9 x 2.7 x 1.5 inches (LxWxH) / 125.5 x 68.3 x 38.7 mm. This is a typical size for a gaming mouse meant to be held by most of the hand. The shell is constructed from matte black plastic while the blue accents and lettering, the purple and black patterns on the 2 meter braided USB cable, and the white Heroes of the Storm logo that glows blue add style inspired by Blizzard Entertainment’s Heroes of the Storm game.SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse

There are eight buttons on this mouse. Aside from the standard left and right buttons, the scroll wheel can be pressed, an additional button is placed on the top near the scroll wheel, and each side has two buttons. All the buttons are customizable in the SteelSeries Engine 3 software.SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse

Those pairs of side buttons are best used by the thumb. We found it difficult and impractical to use the side buttons on the opposite side.SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse

There are three lighting zones on the mouse with the white Heroes of the Storm logo that glows blue when lit is the most visible. The other two lights shine purple and are located in the scroll wheel and at the alternate DPI indicator near the scroll wheel.SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse

The nearly circular arc of the mouse’s shape when viewed from the sides should give some indication that this mouse can be held in the palm. It’s also light enough to be held with a claw grip.SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse

Turning the Heroes of the Storm mouse over, we see that three large plastic feet give a smooth and low-resistance glide. In the center is a laser sensor that can track up to 5670 CPI (DPI) when configured in the SteelSeries Engine 3 software.SteelSeries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse
