Logitech G413 Mechanical Backlit Gaming Keyboard Review

Logitech Gaming Software

Logitech has their own software that lets the user configure the G900 Chaos Spectrum to their personal preferences. The Logitech Gaming Software (LGS), which is at version 8.94.108 as of this writing is well laid out, simple to use, and can service multiple Logitech products through the same application.

As we’ve seen with the other Logitech hardware we’ve done recently, the LGS software graphically displays a representation of the device (or devices) on the tool down the the very color of the model you have and there are multiple screens for addressing various functionality. The home screen simply lets you choose the device you wish to configure in the event that you have multiple eligible devices connected. Also on this screen you can toggle the FN key inversion so using the secondary functions on the function keys becomes primary and vice-versa. The next screen is the macro and profile screen where you can program anf of the function keys do to your bidding based on a large number of presets (based on applications it has detected on your system) or by creating your own. Saving them to a profile allows for later recall. It’s a very powerful tool.

Next up is the lighting option that, since there’s no RGB lighting on board, simply allows for brightness adjustment and the toggling of the breathing effect along with the speed of said effect.

The next screen is simply for setting different gaming profiles where certain keys are disabled such as the Windows key because we all know how much it sucks to hit that when you’re gaming. The last keyboard specific configuration screen is a keypress metrics tracker than can track both key press and duration events for later analysis.

Clicking on the gear icon brings up the overall settings screen where you set things like allowing the LGS to start when Windows does, do firmware updates for all connected devices, set profile parameters, configure Arx Control for mobile connectivity, and access developer tools. It’s a very solid software tool with many features and nuances I didn’t even address so check out Logitech’s site if you want to know more about it.
