    This review is quite obviously written by someone who doesn’t have any audio experience…. Compared to almost all audiophile headphones the cloud revolvers have massive bass and a nearly spot on treble response. they are just not used to it as they most likely have heard muddy gaming headsets all of their life. This is a very accurate and well tuned headset, and a very fresh relief when you hear some of the new offerings from other companies such as the ultra muddy bass heavy Razer Kraken Pro V2. The Cloud Revolvers have more bass than the Sennheiser Game Zero, or Game One or even the HD598’s and HD650’s, Also the Beyr Dt770pro’s as well and definitely more than The Audio Technica AD700’s and 900’s that are considered some of the absolute best gaming headphones. I actually end up turning all the bass boost off in my Creative SBX Pro Studio with the Revolver because of how much bass they have.

    I have the HyperX Cloud Revolvers for about a week now and my son has the original HyperX Cloud. The bass is superb on the Cloud Revolvers, even without any EQ added, plus less than 1% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) below 100Hz, as opposed to 10% distortion on the Cloud, Cloud II and CloudX Pro (look at the published frequency charts). People are confusing raspy distorted booming bass with actual BASS. I use them every day to listen to music (I have 5 different sets of headphones: Sony x 2, JVC, Sennheiser and What Hi-Fi Award-winning SoundMagic Earbuds) connected to my Onkyo Amp and they are unbelievable. I cannot turn the volume up more than three-quarters, given the low impedance (just 30 ohms – half that of the Cloud originals => 2 x volume, lower resistance means more power received). Even connected to my iPhone for mp3 files, they blow everything away. I also listed to FLAC lossless audio through my PC’s sound-card – Creative Xi-Fi Titanium HD and the bass is so powerful it feels as if the headset is jumping off my head, I keep having to touch the memory foam or the ear-cup to see if it is moving (its not). Finally, in Black Ops III, with virtual surround sound via Creative Console, I can hear sounds I haven’t heard before with other headsets, plus I cannot use at full volume (just below on the in-line control) as it is too much. The difference between these and the original Cloud headsets is that the Cloud Revolvers are twice as good.

    They not only performs worse than the original, they looks worse as well.


    I’ll certainly NOT be looking to replace my original Cloud X with this newer version.

  • Sigh… seems HyperX still can’t match the original headset.
    I don’t see what’s difficult about examining the original headset and making it sonically better. Be it through the drivers, housing, cushioning or all the above.
    Cloud II was disappointing and years later it’s still the same. What made the original set so worthwhile was how universal it was and worked surprisingly well for Music, movies and games.
