ATTO & CrystalDiskMark Benchmark

ATTO is one of the oldest hard drive benchmarks that is still used today. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the data into graphs that you can easily interpret. The test was run with the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total length being 256mb.

ATTO Disk Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results: There is a slight performance increase when the Western Digital Black 640GB hard drive was connected directly to the SATA III port. Though like all of the tests the SUNBEAMTECH Airbox USB3.0 3.5″ External Enclosure was significantly faster than the USB2.0 when it utilized a USB3.0 port!

CrystalDiskMark is a small HDD benchmark utility for your hard drive
that enables you to rapidly measure sequential and random read/write
speeds.

 Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results: Sequential read was nearly
identical when comparing USB3.0 and connected to a SATA III port.
Sequential write was slightly faster when connected via the USB3.0. The
4k read and write scores are reversed. The 4k write was slightly slower
when it was connected to the USB3.0 and the 4k read was slightly faster
when using the SUNBEAMTECH Airbox USB3.0 3.5″ External Enclosure.
