Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus Ship Dates Delayed says Source

Samsung may already be pushing back the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones. The tip of the launch delay has come from Ewan Blass according to Forbes. The good new is the commercial availability delay is a short one. Originally the device was tipped to be launching on April 21.

The new date according to Blass is April 28. That means the date has slipped only a week, which is much better than months that we have seen lanches be delayed before. Blass wrote, “No particular reason was given for the updated schedule, although Samsung is known to be proceeding particularly cautiously with this launch, following a rushed Galaxy Note 7 debut last year that ended in disaster.”

Exactly why the device has been delayed is unknown, but Forbes’ Gordon Kelly believes the week delays is to help Samsung build up inventory of the devices. There will certainly be a run on the Galaxy S8 models when they are available. Samsung is being very cautious with this launch after the battery issues with the Note 7 forced the smartphone to be recalled twice after overheating and fire issues related to the battery.

Blass also says that this week delay won’t affect the public launch date of March 29. If there was some technical issue that Samsung was working through, that public launch would be affected. Rumors continue to suggest the fingerprint sensor for the Galaxy S8 has been moved to the back of the smartphone next to the camera to allow for as much screen space as possible on the front with no buttons in the way. The big concern many have is the price, smartphone makers continue to push the prices up with each successive launch.
