NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT Video Card Review

Overclocking

Usually we don’t like to overclock reference cards but with the large number of vendors selling pre-overclocked cards we wanted to see what all the fuss was about. By using the “auto detect” coolbits feature we were able to get overclocked speeds of 563MHz core speed and 1.56GHz memory. That’s a 163MHz improvement on the core and puts it 13MHz faster than the 7800 GTX 512 core speed!! Memory overclock was 308MHz faster which is still nothing to scoff at.

We also overclocked our system in SLI and reached the same clocks that we got with the single card. This is exremely impressive considering that most times overclocks are limited when running in SLI.

Here are the overclocking results from 3DMark 06:

As you can see the 7900 GT really comes to life when overclocked.
