Last month when we talked about the Nintendo Switch Online service we knew it was coming this month but had no firm date. Nintendo has finally put a firm date on the launch and that date is September 18 for Switch gamers in the US. For those of you in Europe, the launch will happen on September 19.
If you have a Nintendo Account, you will get a free 7-day trial to suck you in. Once the service goes live, if you have been playing any games online in multiplayer mode those will be locked behind a paywall. That’s not such good news.
Pricing for the service is as was confirmed in the past. A monthly membership will cost $3.99, quarterly will run you $7.99, and a year membership can be had for $19.99.
Those prices are much cheaper than Microsoft and Sony charge for their online services. A selection of old school games will be included with the monthly subscription price.
