Tomb Raider: Legend Benchmarking

Laura Croft’s search for a South American relic changes course dramatically when she meets a dangerous figure from her past, and she finds herself in a race to recover one of history’s most famous artifacts.

If you are one of those lucky people with Shader Model 3.0 enabled graphics card, you?ll enjoy the optional Next Generation graphics. The game looks even better and far more realistic with next-gen enabled. However, even with the latest technology, you will struggle to get a playable framerate and it even slowed our high-end cards down a great deal.

OUCH. NVIDIA has a very significant performance advantage in TR:Legend. It is an NVIDIA TWIMTBP title and it’s pretty aparent that Ms. Croft has an SLI fetish. Something very important to look at is the result of Next Gen Content. This gives the entire game a make over, literally leaving nothing looking the same when enabled.

Mid End:

It was bad on the Low-End and it’s not much better here. Something to look at is that the 7950GX2 is actually CPU limited at all resolutions with Next Gen Content and AA disabled. The X1900GT’s at those same settings compete with the 7950GX2 with AA enabled. With like settings it’s not much of a contest though.

Not even the flagship X1900XT CrossFire is able to pull out a victory against the 7900GTX SLI. As you can see the Next Gen content is able to put a hurt on even the fastest system in our group of 6.
