Using a P3 Kill-A-Watt we monitored the power usage of the Vybe Z170 i7-6700K during our testing. With the system sitting at the Windows 10 desktop, and no additional software running, it was pulling down 65.0W at 4.0GHz; overclocked to 4.7W the system idle usage increased to 73W. During the testing we monitored the CPU and GPU usage, while they were both under a heavy load, we checked the highest power usage of the system, here we found it to be pulling 363W at 4.0GHz and 387W while overclocked.

The test lab maintained a 22C temperature during all phases of the testing. Using CoreTemp, while the system was idling, it’s reached a cool 22C. During an extensive gaming session, the CPU and GPU were under a heavy load, the temperature reached a maximum of 71.25C while overclocked across all four cores.

Maingear-Vybe-Benchmark-Noise-Level

To test the noise level, we used an Extech sound level meter that has a +/- 1.5dB accuracy. Using the Low measurement, it can measure noise between 35dB and 90dB. With the side panel off, the meter was placed 6 inches away from the side. With everything as quiet in the room as possible, we registered an ambient noise level of 37.6dBA. Letting the MAINGEAR Vybe idle for 30 minutes, we began monitoring the noise level. The noise level was as low as 40.7dBA, and under a full load it reached 54.8dBA.
