Game Testing

Doom 3:

Benchmarking in Doom 3 is one of the best ways to stress test your card. In order to make our results comparable to yours, we used the built-in “demo1” timedemo that is installed with the game for our testing. We tested at 640×480 and 800×600 screen resolutions so you can get an idea of how these cards perform at high detail.

Half-Life 2:

We ran our in-house custom timedemo of HL2 to compare these cards. We loaded the map d3_c17_07 to record our demo. We ran this test at 800×600, 1024×768, and 1280×1024 screen resolutions and high texture details.

Far Cry 1.3:

For Far Cry testing, we used the included demo for the Regulator level. We also tested this game at 800×600, 1024×768, and 1280×1024 screen resolutions but with the games recommended medium texture detail.

Game Testing Summary:

Our game testing shows an 8-10 fps advantage toward the PCI-E HIS X600 XT across the board. In Doom 3, with the X600 XT card, you would most likely have to drop texture detail down to the medium level unless you are satisfied with a 640×480 screen resolution. In HL2, the best playable settings would be a 1024×768 resolution with high detail. Last but not least, our recommended settings for Far Cry and the HIS X600 XT card would be 1024×768 with medium graphics quality.
