The reason that the drive isnt exactly 500GB is due to the change in measure from GB (1GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes) to GiB (1GiB = 1,073,741,824). That means that all the firmware bugs and quirks have been worked out long before you get it and you’ll have an enjoyable user experience.
