Corsair 6GB DDR3-1866 Dominator GT Memory Review

Jump To:

For the average consumer the Corsair 6GB DDR3-1866 Dominator GTs would be overkill; with a retail price of $379 per kit you could purchase 12GB of decent DDR3-1600C7 with room to spare. But those 12GB of DDR3-1600C7 may only overclock to the stock speeds of this Dominator GT kit while the Dominator GT modules will keep scaling past 2GHz. This is what you are more or less paying for – the binning process Corsair has undertaken to insure these kits are stable at 1866MHz. This binning process results in kits that also include overclocking headroom that puts these sticks up at the top of the list of performance DDR3. Currently you can only purchase Corsair Dominator GT modules through their online store. When shopping for these sticks, don’t confuse them with the non GT modules, the GT modules have a model number of TR3X6G1866C7GT while the non GT modules have a model number of TR3X6G1866C9DF.

Corsair DDR3-1866 Dominator GT

All Corsair memory modules include a lifetime warranty for their products. For many users this has been indispensable; Corsair is willing to bend backwards to support their customers. In the past this has been incredibly important with old Micron based DDR2 dying out by the dozens. Hopefully, we won’t see something like that happen again, but if it does have no worries.

Corsair Dominator GT Memory Kit

To wrap things up, we have an incredibly expensive kit that offers incredible performance and keeps on moving upwards with a modest overclocking requirements. If you are a competitive benchmarker or a gamer set on buying the best, this kit is for you. When you look back and remember two years ago we were paying this price for 2GB of DDR2-1066, you’ll have a good laugh.

Legit Bottom Line: Corsair keeps pushing onwards and upwards with their screaming DDR3-1866C7 Dominator GT modules.
