OCZ’s 2000W External Power Supply – HyperXStream

Image Description

While visiting with OCZ Technology we got to finally see the HyperXStream 2000W external power supply that we have been hearing rumors about for many months. With adjustable voltage rails, a pair of 120mm fans and an external form factor this power supply is innovative to say the least.

Many of our readers have pointed out that many homes can’t run more than 1750W on a single wall plug as a 15 Amp breaker couldn’t handle the load. OCZ has placed a pair of power connectors on their power supply to ‘seperate’ the power draw, which works on paper, but doesn’t easily in reality. With many rooms run off the same breaker one would have to find an outlet that is on another run for this to work correctly. Time to break out the 12 gauge wire and 20 Amp breakers, so this won’t be an issue!

While the PSU is external this breakaway box will be mounted in the spot where the PSU goes in the case and features modular connections.
