ATTO Disk Benchmark

ATTO v2.47

ATTO is one of the oldest drive benchmarks still being used today and is still very relevant in the SSD world. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the data into graphs that can be very easily interpreted. The test was run with the default runs of 0.5KB through 8192KB transfer sizes with the total length being 256MB.

Samsung Portable SSD T1 250GB on USB 3.0:

Samsung Portable SSD T1 ATTO

Benchmark Results: ATTO showed Samsung Portable SSD T1 250GB drive maxing out at 463 MB/s read and 437MB/s write in the standard overlapped I/O benchmark when connected to the ASUS Z97-A motherboard with the SATA III interface. This drive is rated at having up to 450MB/s sequential read and write speeds, so we are happy with our test results. Keep in mind that we are testing on a platform that supports the UAS Protocol to ensure the best speeds possible. We found that the speed of the T1 was unaffected by turning on encryption, so that is the reason we aren’t showing those performance results.

Legit Reviews reached out to some of the SSD makers and was told that the fastest they have seen in the test labs is 475MB/s when it comes to performance over the USB 3.0 interface. The Samsung Portable SSD T1 looks like it is very close to maxing out the USB 3.0 interface.
