Intel NUC Swift Canyon Roadmap Leaks – Meet Skylake NUC

By

FanlessTech has posted up an image that is reportedly the Intel NUC Consumer Roadmap that highlights the upcoming Intel Skylake processor based models that are coming later this year to help strengthen the product stack. It looks like Intel has code named those models Swift Canyon and there will both a Core i3 (NUC6i3SYK / NUC6i3SYH) and Core i5 (NUC6i5SYK / NUC6i5SYH) model coming in the 2nd half of 2015. The roadmap shows the Core i3 NUC6i3SYK and NUC6i3SYH models with the Intel 6th Generation Core i3-6XXXU ‘Skylake’ processor will be launched first in Q3 2015. The more powerful NUC6i5SYK and NUC6i5SYH will be released in Q4 2015.

Swift Canyon appears to offer very similar features to the current Rock Canyon models that we have already reviewed, but also comes with a built-in SDXC card slot with UHS-I support. Hopefully the NUC will be getting HDMI 2.0 support as that will be a nice feature to have now that 2016 is on the horizon and 4K Ultra HD monitors are starting to dominate the market. The Intel roadmap slide published by FanlessTech shows Swift Canyon will be sold from 2015 into 2017, so you know 4K monitors will likely be the norm for enthusiasts come 2017. We also hope that Intel will bring back the high-end Core i7 sku, but this time around with an improved CPU cooler!
