Wii outsells PS3 2-to-1 in Japan

Many thought that the Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s X-Box 360 were going to be the clear cut winners in the “next-gen” console wars. The darkhorse in the race, Nintendo’s Wii, has come out of the gate to suprise them all in 2007. Wii is beating PlayStation 3 sales by more than two to one in Japan, and in the US, X-Box is king – but only because it had a year head start on Nintendo!

Of the three new-generation game consoles, the Xbox 360 has sold the most at 5 million units in the United States alone, but that’s mainly due to the fact that it was released a full year earlier than either the Wii or the PS3. Since they first hit shelves last November, the PS3 has sold 1.1 million units while the Wii has tallied 1.86 million.
