What’s an NDA? Quad-Core Intel Kentsfield Benchmarks Posted

By

Tom’s Hardware has broken their NDA with Intel and has a sneak preview of the forthcoming Quadcore Kentsfield processor which is made up of two Conroe glued together. So you have four 2.67GHz core running on a 1066MHz FSB, 8MB L2 cache and it is compatible with 965/975 motherboards. The model, which is referred to as the Core2 Quadro, as overclocked to 3.33GHz and set new records for bunch of their benchmarks. I find it funny that they have Intel as an advertiser and break NDA’s all the time. I wonder if these NDA breaks are supported by the higher ups at Intel.

For me, working with one of the first quad core systems was amazing. No matter how many applications you run at the same time, the system reacts to user commands quickly. Some applications require half the time to finish tasks. To me, it’s like being catapulted a year into the future and is unlike the past few years when computing power increased only marginally. Intel pumped out 30% more performance with Core 2 Duo and will double that again with Core 2 Quadro soon.
