Verizon Unlimited Data Launches Today with HD Streaming and Hotspot

If you need any further proof that T-Mobile is putting pressure on other major carriers in the mobile world look no further than the new Verizon Unlimited data plan that has launched today. Verizon Unlimited is a new offering from Verizon Wireless that brings smartphone users on the network unlimited data, voice and text messaging for one price.

If you didn’t like the fact that T-Mobile’s One plan offered only SD streaming by default, you might like Verizon Unlimited thanks to the HD streaming included in the plan. Verizon also gives you mobile hotspot use, calling and texting to Mexico and Canada and up to 500MB/day of 4G LTE roaming in Mexico and Canada.

Naturally Verizon is bragging about its larger network covering more than 2.4 million square miles and at least in some areas the coverage certainly has T-Mobile and other carrier’s beat. The Verizon Unlimited plan costs $80 monthly for a single line if you opt for paper-free billing and AutoPay. If you have multiple lines on your plan you can get coverage for four lines for $45 monthly per line and that works for tablets or smartphones.

To get that price you do still need to opt for AutoPay and paper-free billing. As with all unlimited data plans today, there are caveats to Verizon Unlimited. The big caveat is that you are limited to 22GB of data per line in any billing cycle. If you use more than that Verizon may “prioritize” your line, meaning throttle your data speed.

Another cavat is that you only get 10GB of LTE hotspot data monthly before you are cut back to 3G speeds. The new Verizon Unlimited plan does allow you to add connected devices like smartwatches to your plan for $5 monthly. Verizon Unlimited is available today for new and existing customers.
