Ubisoft Debuts Far Cry 4, Assassins Creed Unity, and Tom Clancy’s Division at E3 Press Event

By

Along with Microsoft, EA and Sony, Ubisoft had their 2014 E3 Press Event today in Los Angeles on the eve of this years E3 conference. Hosted by Aisha Tyler (who you may know from Archer, The Talk, Whose Line is it Anyway, or Watch Dogs) the event was tailored to the gamer and the franchises they love. It was nice having an MC unlike the other pressers we saw today, and Aisha has an energy that was refreshing as she introduced game titles and the key producers and directors.

Here is a brief overview of what was presented in todays press event from Ubisoft:

Far Cry 4-2Far Cry 4

Announced for a November 18 release, Ubisoft showed the audience a brand new trailer that introduced an incredible new villain named Min. Even though there was no gameplay shown, the cinematic trailer was very good doing an excellent job of teasing anyone who loves the Far Cry franchise. Overall, this had to be one of my favorite teaser trailers Ive seen for a long time.

In Far Cry 4, youll conquer fortress outposts from the back of a six-ton elephant and take to the skies as you rain down explosives from the seat of your gyrocopter. The vertical landscape of the Himalayas isnt just a pretty backdrop, but a playground that encourages the player to fight, hunt and explore, grappling up cliffs or launching into the air, plummeting to the valley below in a controlled free fall with your wing suit. Youll carry with you a truly unique arsenal of weaponry that lets you play your way, whether its sniping, sneaking or all-out assault. When all else fails, animals can be your biggest allies or your greatest danger, as Kyrats wilderness delivers on the promise of a true open world anecdote factory.

Assassin's Creed Art 43

Assassins Creed: Unity

With the Lourde cover track of Everybody Wants to Rule the World as the backing music, the new Assassins Creed trailer was shown for the first time with gameplay snippets shown from the Xbox press event earlier today. AC:U has a new redesigned gameplay for a new single player adventure and up to four-player co-op. Ubisoft hyped their new systemic open world and while the combat is similar to past games, the animation is more polished and the story had multiple threads you could follow as a player. What was very cool to see was the physics and gameplaythere is just something different and unique about the motion in Assassins Creed. Its great that there is a new robust single-player mode since not everyone is a multi-player addict.

The Division-1

Tom Clancys The Division

One of the most interesting new game previews that we saw today was for the game, The Division. You are a sleeper agent activated to take back an infected New York City. This had one of the most realistic and coolest trailers that we have seen. It starts off with a time-lapsed New York and how humans reacted to the outbreak. After that, there is some gameplay action that Following the Microsoft debut Coming in 2015. Again, a great, great trailer to make you feel like you are part of the action with a very unique plot.

We live in a complex world. The more advanced it gets, the more vulnerable it becomes. Weve created a house of cards. Remove just one and everything falls apart.

On Black Friday, a devastating pandemic sweeps through New York City and, one by one, basic services fail. In only days, without food or water, society collapses into chaos. The Division, an autonomous unit of tactical agents, is activated. Leading seemingly ordinary lives among us, the agents are trained to operate independently in order to save society.

When society falls, your mission begins.

The Crew-3The Crew

Next up was The Crew otherwise known as Driving Mayhem! Actually, the title wasnt bad at all if you are into driving sims and looked gorgeous! Ubisoft says that you can drive from Miami to Los Angeles without the game ever needing to have to pause to reload. During the press conference, Ubisoft showed car after car, and then they showed more cars after thatall to downbeat and chillaxing music. (Not exactly sure why though) Ubisoft says that the gaming community inspires this gameplay and helps to improve the online experience. Our interpretation of that is since Ubisoft has already had gamers playing the game, they are making constant updates to the playability as well as getting any beta bug fixes done. In the future we are sure they will use this to be response to the gamer/sim community.

Get behind the wheel of this revolutionary action-driving game. The Crew delivers a massive open-world United States, full of highways, alleyways, dirt roads and more. Join up with others to take on challenges, or go solo and explore the countryside in a game populated by other real players.

Not to Be Forgotten: Just Dance, Shape Up, Valiant Hearts, and Rainbow Six: Siege Multiplayer

Some other highlights included Just Dance 2015 where Ubisoft reported over 100 million players worldwide. They are obviously doing something right as their theme music was Pharrel Williams Happy. The new Just Dance will also feature artists such as Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris to round out any party. They showed a new free mobile app that lets you play Just Dance anywhere and not be tethered to a controller. The development of this latency-free connected and coordinated gaming will not only benefit the JD Dance scene, but will populate over to shooters and MMO genres. No word if they plan to sync up everything to Lady Gaga. Stay tuned.

Shape Up, Ubisofts newest fitness game made an appearance and utilized Microsoft Xboxs Kinect in a very clever way. We are sure Microsoft was beaming at Ubis use of the Kinect in a non-traditional way. We thought it was pretty cool and enough to motivate many to get their work out on!

Ubisoft showed a trailer of Valiant Hearts. This preview was honestly a real downer as it was a very somber look and narrative of World War I. Im not exactly sure how they motivated anyone to go out and buy the game when the next installment is released. Of course they know more than I do about marketing.

Lastly, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot himself took the stage to announce “something big” coming. The preview was for Rainbow Six: Siege a new multiplayer experience coming.

Overall, we thought Ubisofts Press Event was a winner as the time passed quickly with one of the funniest ladies on the planet as its host. If there is one thing that Ubisoft does well is that they can produce a cinematic trailer. They did not disappoint today!
