Sprint Sitting Out Windows Phone 8 Launch Party?

By

It looks like America’s third largest mobile operator, Sprint, is not going to be at the launch party of the next generation of Nokia Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8. Why? Stats compiled by Windows Phone community website WMPoweruser, show that none of the many WP8 handsets currently being tested are connected to the Sprint network, fuelling speculation that they will sit out this launch and see how well this platform does before supporting it. The obvious takeaway from this is that fans of Windows Phone will either have to wait a long time for Sprint support, or switch to another operator. The launch will be jointly hosted by Microsoft and Nokia on September 5.

It’s no surprise than an increasing number of Windows Phone 8 handsets in the wild a fact that is reflected in our own logs.

What is however interesting that of the many, many networks present, none are related to Sprint at all.
