Retro gaming fans will have a new mini console to enjoy in a few months. The Sega Genesis Mini was announced a while back, and we have been waiting to hear exactly when it would land to purchase. That question has now been answered, and the official launch date is September 19.

You can pre-order the console right now via Walmart and other retailers. The price is $80, and for the money, you get 40 games, some of them being popular titles from the heyday of the console.

Sega is mum on the entire game list, but it has announced a partial list of the 40 titles. The titles we know of right now includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Ecco the Dolphin, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Space Harrier 2, Shining Force, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, ToeJam & Earl, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, and Gunstar Heroes. More games will be announced at a later date.

A pair of replica three-button controllers ship with the mini console and promise to look like the originals. Those connect via USB and power for the console is via a micro-B cable. Connectivity to the TV is via HDMI, and that cable is included. In the UK and Australia, the console will be branded as the Sega Mega Drive.
