Rumor: Kingston To Increase Investment in China Packaging Subsidiary

Kingston Technology will invest about 240 million yuan in its Shenzhen subsidiary, Payton Technology, to boost monthly window ball-grid array (WBGA) capacity to 10 million units, according to media reports in China.

According to Payton’s official website, the Kingston subsidiary launched the WBGA project with the investment amount set at 240 million yuan. Mass production is slated to start in May 2007 with a target capacity of 10 million. Kingston currently has over 40 surface-mount technology (SMT) lines in Taiwan, Malaysia, Shanghai, Shenzhen and the US with a monthly memory module capacity of 10 million units.
