Rumor: Kingston the biggest beneficiary of NAND flash price recovery

By

In light of the sudden surge of NAND flash prices, Kingston Technology, which procured a considerable amount of NAND flash during the price lows, is said to be the biggest beneficiary. Spot prices for NAND flash posted an average growth of about 40% over the past two weeks, following news of production cuts or delays at major chipmakers including Hynix Semiconductor and IM Flash Technologies.

Kingston reportedly procured a batch of 100 million chips from Samsung Electronics at low cost in early 2008. The rapid shift in NAND pricing means this inventory now represents a significant return on investment for Kingston, sources at memory houses commented.
