Quanta insists OLPC shipments still on track

By

Despite reports citing executives from the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) Foundation as saying that production would be delayed, Quanta Computer has said that shipments of its first batch of XO notebooks are still on track for November. So, who knows if our post yesterday is right or this one. Sounds like something is up though.

An October 23 Reuters report cited chief technology officer (CTO) Mary Lou Jepsen of the foundation as saying that OLPC was “scheduled to go into production at a Chinese factory in October, but it is now slated to begin by November 12”. Jepsen pointed to the discovery of last-minute bugs as the reason for the delay. Quanta responded claiming no knowledge of the “last-minute bugs”.
