Qualcomm Introduces Zeroth Processors: Brain-Inspired Neural Computing

By

Check out the video below, in which Qualcomm shows off the Qualcomm Zeroth processor in a robot that placed it in an environment with colored boxes. The robot is able to adjust its behavior in response to being told “good” or “bad” when going to certain boxes. This shows that it is ‘learning’ through the positive feedback that it is receiving from the user and not by programming lines of code.

The idea that electronic devices could have the ability to learn what we do and the things we like would certainly change the future. Some might think that Qualcomm is on track to build Skynet and destroy the human race, but they are envisioning this for mobile devices. Qualcomm envisions the Zeroth sitting alongside a future Qualcomm Snapdragon as an accessory processor of sorts. Qualcomm Snapdragon processors already power a number of popular high-end smartphones and tablets (Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Google Nexus 7 by ASUS , and the HTC One mini). If Qualcomm can make this work right, we could be training our smartphones in the near future!
