PlayStation Network and Nintendo eShop were for Some Yesterday

On Christmas day when hordes of gamers around the country were opening new PS4 game consoles and Nintendo Switch consoles there was an outage of the PlayStation Network and the Nintendo eShop that affected some users. That outage meant that some of the folks who wanted to buy things for their new consoles online were unable to. The issue with the PSN had to do with voucher redemption reports Gamespot.

Sony admitted the issue with on Twitter saying it was “aware that some users are having issues redeeming vouchers on PSN.” Some people reportedly had issues connecting to the online services at all. In Colorado, there didnt seem to be an issue as we had a new PS4 added for Christmas in my house and there were no problems buying things with an attached credit card or enjoying online services.

As for folks who had a new Switch under the tree, the Nintendo eShop had issues as well. Nintendo admitted its issues via twitter writing, “We apologize for any issues you may be experiencing with Nintendo eShop. We are working on it and hope to have this resolved soon.”

Both issues should be sorted at this point allowing the people lucky enough to have the rest of the week off in good shape for some post-Christmas gaming moving into New Year’s. If you had issues with either of these services yesterday it might be a small solace to know it wasn’t just you.
