PC players start recruiting, while AMD denies plans to cut staff by 3-5% in 2H09

PC players Asustek Computer, Pegatron Electronics, Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), and Intel and Nvidia have all recently started hiring in Taiwan as global market demand starts to recover, according to the PC players and industry sources.

Asustek has reopened hiring of R&D and sales staff for desktop, notebook, handset and telecom products, while Pegatron plans to hold a large technician interview conference on August 7 to acquire new blood for hardware and software R&D, and marketing. Nvidia also plans to increase manpower at its Asia Pacific offices including Taiwan by 15-20% over the next 18 months to strength its engineering, sales, software development and technology support departments. Intel is also cooperating with the Taiwan government to offer graduate students in Taiwan a year’s internship and will consider turning them into full-time staff after evaluation.
