After months of anticipation, Sony has announced at GamesCom in Cologne it’s new PlayStation 3 Slim. The system have a 33% slimmer form factor than the original PS3, as well as a lower price tag of $299. The PS3 Slim will have all the same features as the current PS3 but, unfortunately, will not have backwards compatibility with your PS2 games.

The Kmart site describes the de-bulked PS3 as having a 120GB hard drive and DualShock 3 controller. The current PS3 model, with an 80-gigabyte drive,is priced at $399; that price is expected to drop imminently.
