By

MSI has shown off an early prototype motherboard that uses the Intel Z87 chipset called the MSI Z87A-GD65. The board will use MSI Military Standard 4 components and it looks like the board is using FPCAP GT Series capacitors that are subzero certified. The board will also be equipped with a LN2 Mode button and another button for OC Mode.

The board has 16 phase VRM power, two 8-pin EPS connectors and a ton of other goodies to ensure the processor is getting plenty of clean power. The board also has four DDR3 DRAM slots that support up to 64GB of dual-channel memory, three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, and four PCIe x1 slots.

The boards rear I/O panel has 8-channel HD audio, gigabit Ethernet, sixUSB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a PS2 keyboard/mouse port and finally dual-HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs. This won’t be the boards final color and not of the heatsinks were on it, so it will be interesting to see what the final look and color scheme will be for this Intel Z87 Express chipset powered board!
