Microsoft Tops Apple in J.D. Power Tablet Survey for the First Time

When it comes to tablets the products that many people think about first are the Apple iPad line. For the first time Apple is no longer in the top spot on the J.D. Power tablet survey reports Fast Company. Microsoft has taken over that top spot with its Surface line of tablets that creative and professional users have found so compelling.

Apple had been very proud of its J.D. Power satisfaction ratings and has used that ranking as a way to show that people still love iPads even in the face of sagging sales. Those brands will be nullified now that the Microsoft Surface tablets sit at the top of the satisfaction rankings. The latest JD power rankings came out on Thursday and showed that Surface users gave their tablets an 855 out of 1000 score.

Things that users praised in the rankings about the Surface tablets include pre-loaded applications, internet connectivity, and the accessories available. Users also bragged on the Surface selection of inputs, outputs and internal storage. Top marks for Surface were also given for design, look, and feel of the tablet. Interestingly the ranking also found that Surface tablet users were more likely to be younger and early adopters of tech than users of other tablets. The iPad came in second in the rankings with a score of 849, only slightly behind the Surface tablet, but as Ricky Bobby says, second place is just first loser.

Apple is currently working to appeal to the pro level users out there with promises of a refreshed Mac Pro and a new external display on the horizon. Perhaps Apple will do something with its tablets to regain the top spot in J.D. Power rankings.
