Microsoft Surface Sales Boom

Microsoft is doing very well with its line of Surface devices, and its Q3 2019 earings reflect that. The earnings who strong growth with the Surface devices like the Surface Pro 6 and the Surface Laptop 2. Total earnings for the hardware division where Surface devices reside was $1.329 billion with surface sales growing 21% year-over-year for Q3.

The quarter marks the seventh where Microsoft has racked up over a billion in sales for the quarter. Microsoft doesn’t break down the sales of individual devices, but the quarter was noted for the launch of both the Surface Pro 6 and the Surface Laptop 2.

Late in 2018 Microsoft also launched the Surface Go and the Surface Studio 2. Microsoft has more coming for the Surface family including the Surface Hub 2S. No significant changes are expected for the surface devices in 2019 with the possible exception being the Surface Book that was last updated in 2017.

Microsoft overall year-on-year revenue rose 14% to $30.6 billion with cloud revenue growing massively at 41% year-on-year to $9.6 billion reports Forbes.
