Malicious HTML in E-Mail Increases

A safe computing practice is to not open emails from sources unknown to you – especially if those emails contain attachments. However, even opening emails without attachments but coded in HTML could put you at risk and that risk seems to be on the rise. To be safe, turn off displaying images and HTML content in your email app (where applicable) and refrain from opening spam email or email from strangers.

Email Scam

Spammers have suddenly cranked up the use of malicious HTML file attachments in recent days, according to security company Barracuda Networks. Using a number of search engine optimization-driven subject lines, the latest campaign tries to get recipients to click on “harmless” HTML attachments which launches an obfuscated Javascript attack that sends users to a variety of websites peddling everything from bogus CODECS to pharmacy.
