LG Cinema 3D Glasses-Free Monitor Certified By Underwriters Laboratories
LG a market leader in digital display products is now the first manufacturer to have a 3D glasses-free monitor that passes UL (Underwriters Laboratories) product safety tests. The new CINEMA 3D monitor the D2500 passed UL testing for product safety and even received Certificates of Validation on five other tests conducted by UL. Those tests were 2D Color Characteristics, 3D Color Characteristics, 3D Contrast, 3D Crosstalk and 3D Vertical Viewing Angle. The D2500 uses Parallax Barrier technology to create the illusion of depth which is based on a series of light-blocking barriers attached to the front of the LCD panel. This ensures the left and right eyes will see different images for proper 3D image quality. The D2500 also has head-tracking abilities to monitor the user’s head and eye positions in real time through an imbedded web cam in order to adjust 3D images according to the user’s viewing angle and distance from the CINEMA 3D monitor. That said LG wasn’t satisfied with just UL certification they were also certified by TUV Rheinland as a glasses-free 3D product.

Our glasses-free CINEMA 3D monitors will continue to lead LG in the glasses-free 3D market, said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. We will strengthen our glasses-free 3D product line-up to further distance ourselves from the competition.
