Intel Kills Larrabee Discrete GPU Program

Straight on the heels of Intels announcement of six new Mobile Processors, Intels Director of Product & Technology PR, Bill Kircos posted an update on their GPU programs. One of the biggest pieces of news were their plans to stop development of their long-awaited discrete GPU. This move doesnt seem to affect Intels support of the Atom N470 and Core 2010 lines which have built-in GPUs.

We will not bring a discrete graphics product to market, at least in the short-term. As we said in December, we missed some key product milestones. Upon further assessment, and as mentioned above, we are focused on processor graphics, and we believe media/HD video and mobile computing are the most important areas to focus on moving forward.
