A number of 10-inch netbooks based on a new Intel single-core Atom N280 processor are expected to be introduced by Asustek Computer (the Eee PC 1004DN series), Acer and Gigabyte Technology between second- and third-quarter 2009.
The CPU features a core frequency of 1.66GHz and 667MHz FSB, and will be available bundled with Intel’s GN40 chipset, indicated sources at notebook makers. The Intel Atom N280 processor is priced at US$60-65 in thousand-unit tray quantities, compared to US$46 for its predecessor, the Atom N270 and 945GSE chipset, the sources added.
