Eastern Indonesia was on a tsunami alert Tuesday after an earthquake offshore rattled the region. The magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck near Indonesia’s Moluccas islands, an official at the country’s meteorological agency said.

“There is a possibility of a tsunami, but until now we have not received a report that it has happened,” Fauzi, head seismologist at the agency, told Reuters.
