Image of iPhone Prototype from 2005 Revealed – 5″x7″ Screen & Serial Port

By

A former Apple employee sent images of a very early Apple iPhone prototype to Arstechnica that are worth a quick look. The images are said to be of an early iPhone prototype from 2005. The device was was nearly 2 inches thick, with a screen dimension of 5 inches by 7 inches. It has every port imaginable on it for developers to work on the device, which is the reason for the 2-inch thickness. The prototype was powered by an ARM chip that looks like a variant of the Samsung S3C2410. It is always fun to look back and to see how far we have come over the years. Back in 2005 who would have thought that this prototype was going to revolutionize the mobile industry the way that it did!
