The Touro Mobile Pro 750GB from Hitachi proved to be a speedy little drive and a nice upgrade from the Touro Mobile 5400 RPM versions.

Hitachi Touro Mobile Pro
We really liked the look of this drive with its shiny black gloss finish, silver accents, and deep blue power / activity light. One word of caution on the shiny black is be prepare to be wiping fingerprints on a regular basis. As far as use goes it couldn’t be any easier than simply plugging it in to an available USB 3.0 port and in about 20 seconds it pops up as a new drive. The included backup software is very simple to use and even makes the additional 3GB of free cloud storage a piece of cake. The extra 3GB of cloud storage should help if you have really critical files that you want to store a copy off premise but the security is a bit vague which means you might consider encrypting files before you mark them for cloud.
The only thing we would reccomend is to spend some time on Google or Bing before clicking on the “buy more” cloud storage button as we easily found several sites with considerably more space for the same or slightly more.
We found the 750GB version of the Hitachi Mobile Pro for $89.99 w/ $3.35 shipping from B & H Foto & Electronics. This is an excellent price given that you can buy the raw Hitachi HTS727575A9E364 2.5″ Mobile Hard Drive – 750GB, SATA, 7200, 16MB that is in this case for $139.99 from Micro Center. Add a two year warranty and it is hard to pass this on up. The only thing that would have made this better is if it was based on one of the new 1TB 2.5″ drives giving a little more backup space. All of this goodness makes it easy to give this external drive our Editors Choice award

Legit Bottom Line: 750GB of plug and play storage plus 3GB of free cloud in a screaming fast USB 3.0, 7200RPM, 2.5″ format is hard to pass up. If you are looking for simple high capacity external storage in a slim package this should be at the top of your list.
