A Closer Look and Installation

With the Igloo 5750 out of the packing we can start to look it over. Things that stand out right off is the dual 92mm fans, and it’s usage of stock Intel retention configuration. The fans are low profile fans, but if the need would arise to replace them they are held in place with screws and a standard height fan would fit.

Looking from the side we can get a good look at the profile of the cooler. The heatpipes are in a C shape which is different than most of the coolers on the market that use the U shape configuration. We can also see the secondary heatsink on the base, and the plastic tray protecting the pre-applied thermal paste.

Turning it 90 degrees we can see the ends of the heatpipes peeking through the side shroud. You may have noticed, but the heatpipes are not inline, rather, they are in an arc. We can also get a good look at the heat sink on the top of the base. This adds another boost in cooling as the fans blow down on the socket and across the heat sink.

Flipping the cooler over we can see how the heatpipes join up to the base, as well as how the retention brackets attach to the base. For the AMD users these can be swapped out for the included mounts for the AMD socket.

Spinning the cooler around we can get a good look at how the heatpipes are sandwiched between the base and the secondary heat sink. Like any good enthusiast, when I see pre-applied thermal paste I need to know what is under it.

So off it comes and what we found was not all too impressive. Not only can you can see the machining marks in the base, when you clean the TIM off with a cotton swab you can see residual TIM stay in the grooves. It took me a good 10 minutes to clean the stock TIM off the base.

Installing the Cooler

Installing the Igloo 5750 on an Intel system is just as easy as installing the stock cooler as they mount the same way. The power cable for the cooler is nice and long, so should have no issues reaching a fan header on your system.

With the cooler having the small footprint that it does, it clears all the motherboard components with ease.
