Gigabyte motherboard shipments to rebound 30% in 1Q

Gigabyte Technology will see its first-quarter motherboard shipments rebound 30% from a poor fourth quarter, as demand will pick up, according to a Goldman Sachs’ report, as cited by the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN)

EDN previously reported that Gigabyte’s motherboard shipments had dropped over 30% sequentially in the fourth quarter of 2006 to 3.1 million units. But the newspaper has revised the figure, indicating that Gigabyte shipped only 2.7 million motherboards in the fourth quarter because of weak industry-wide demand. The Goldman Sachs report predicts that Gigabyte’s motherboards will reach one million units in January, according to EDN.
