GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC Motherboard Seen At CeBIT

Pictures of the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC Motherboard have started to be seen online this week thanks to CeBIT. The Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC uses the Intel Z87 Express chipset along with the LGA1150 socket for upcoming Intel Core i-series processors that use the ‘Haswell’ micro-architecture. The Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC motherboard is aimed at overclockers and enthusiasts. As a result of its intended audience, this board uses the larger EATX form factor to get as many features as possible on the board.

The Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC comes with four PCI Express x16 slots, one PCI Express x1 slot, two PCI slots, six Serial ATA-600 ports,and four DDR3 memory slots. The board features a 24-pin + 10 power header setup for the processor, but also has an additional 6-pin PCIe video card power header by the SATA ports for additional PCIe power.

The Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC also features a ton of buttons, DIP switches and an LED display to help overclockers get the most from this board. The mainboard will use the IR3550 PowIRstage ICs from International Rectifier, 2x copper printed-circuit boards and high current ferrite core chokes rated up to 60A which together are able to deliver up to 60°C cooler temperatures than traditional motherboards. No word on pricing, but that will be made public when the board is launched this summer.
