G.Skill Shows Off DDR4-5066MHz Memory Kits At Computex

By

When it comes to having the fastest memory kit on the market it seems like Corsair and G.SKILL are the only two companies battling it out. G.Skill is once again pushing the limits of DDR4 memory by announcing the 16GB (2x8GB) Trident Z RGB DDR4-5066MHz extreme dual-channel kit built with Samsung 8Gb ICs. G.Skill claims that this is the highest frequency dual-channel DDR4 memory that is actually running in a demo system at Computex 2018. The memory timings used on this kit to operate at 5066 MHz are CL 21-26-26-54. Impressive speed, but the memory timing are a little loose. G.Skill has another demo at Computex 2018 with 16GB (2x8GB) Trident Z RGB DDR4-4800MHz memory kit thats running an unreal CL17-17-17-37 . Those are super tight timings for 4800MHz and it shows that low CAS latency timings are possible at such high frequencies.

G.SKill DDR4 5066MHz Memory Kit

G.Skill is showing off this impressive memory kit on the MSI Z370I Gaming PRO CARBON AC motherboard with an Intel Core i7-8700K processor. This board is known to be one of the best motherboards for DDR4 overclocking and the best part about it is that this Mini ITX board is rather affordable at $159.99 shipped. You don’t have to have a $350 board like the ASUS ROG Maximus X Formula or use extreme cooling to get insane memory speeds!

G.Skill was not showing off any memory bandwidth benchmarks on the Computex 2018 show floor, but it would be interesting to see how much bandwidth and what the latencies are on these kits. No word on pricing, but we bet they only have a handful of 5066MHz kits and they won’t be available to purchase for some time! The fastest memory kit from G.Skill that we could find for sale this very second would be the G.Skill Trident Z Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-4600 kit and that has CL 19-23-23-43 timings, uses 1.5V, and runs right around $500 shipped. Expect to see these new kits to be around the same price if not more.
