Foxlink and ECS to form joint venture for PC Connector Company

Connector maker Cheng Uei Precision Industry (Foxlink) and Elitegroup Computer System (ECS) will form a joint venture, with the former investing NT$360 million (US$10.99 million), or 60%, and the latter NT$240 million, or 40%, according to an ECS filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) yesterday.

ECS said the new company will be formally established on August 1, 2007, while Foxlink, in another filing with the TSE last week, saying it would take 60% of the new company, without naming the partner. According to a Chinese-language Apple Daily newspaper report, the joint venture will manufacture connectors, and its initial production focus will be chiefly PC connectors.
