Test Setups

I was torn as to how I wanted to test these boards. Part of me wanted to use the Intel 840EE in the 955 chipset board and the Pentium D 820 in the 945 boards, but I finally decided to use the same processor, Intel’s Pentium 4 640 processor in each board, therefore we can really judge performance across the board. Over the course of time, I will be using all three of these boards in comparative reviews with other boards, but for right now lets focus strictly on these.

The test system used:

  • 1 GB Wintec AMPX PC5400 @ 4-4-4-12
  • ATI X850 XT
  • Hitachi 80GB SATA HDD
  • Antec NeoPower 480W PSU
  • Thermalright XP-90C
