ECS and MSI see sharp on-year revenue decline in January
First-tier motherboard makers Elitegroup Computer System (ECS) and Micro-Star International (MSI) both suffered a revenue decline in January this year, according to the companies.
ECS has announced consolidated revenues of NT$4.23 billion (US$124.45 million) for January, drops of 40.64% on month and 42.08% on year. The company shipped around 1.1 million motherboards and 200,000-300,000 notebooks in January. ECS expects its shipments and revenues in February and March to be better than in January, but will to not have any significant growth. MSI saw revenues of NT$5.78 billion for January, drops of 4.63% on month and 39.43% on year. Some market watchers expect the company’s revenues in February and March to increase slightly, but will be unable to match those of the same period in the previous year.
